Hi! I’m Janelle Cohos, Registered Psychologist & Mom of two.
It is such an honour to do this work.
Thank you for being here and inviting me in.
Educational Background
I am a Registered Psychologist in Alberta with a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology (Adler University, Vancouver, BC) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology (University of Victoria, Victoria, BC).
Since 2015, I have been providing compassionate counselling services to individuals and couples in private practice, corporate, and agency settings. I help my clients learn practical tools to manage challenges related to anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting, life transitions, self-esteem, and relationship difficulties.
I have a specialized focus working with perinatal (pre/postpartum) populations. My own journey through pregnancy and motherhood has helped shape my growing interest in perinatal and maternal mental health. I have completed specialized training in maternal mental health, holding certificates of completion for Bringing Light to Motherhood: Perinatal Mental Health Certificate Training from Maternal Mental Health Now, and Advanced Perinatal Mental Health Psychotherapy Training Certificate from Postpartum Support International.
I am an EMDR trained therapist (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), holding an EMDRIA-approved basic training certificate from the Envision Academy at Envision Workshops. In therapy, I use EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and self compassion. Our approach is guided by your unique needs.
In my spare time, I love to be outdoors doing physical activity and enjoying nature with friends and family.
I believe that having a “good fit” with your counsellor is one of the most important aspects of counselling, so if you feel like we might be a fit—feel free to reach out! I also offer a 15 minute free phone consultation to help you decide, if you’d like.
I can’t wait to meet you (or re-connect, if it’s been a while)!
